Meet Dr. Puja Thakkar
Dr. Puja Thakkar is a native of the Bay Area and a passionate sleep medicine provider serving her patients in Danville and Fremont, California. Dr. Thakkar established the Golden State Sleep Centers to offer state-of-the-art facilities out of which to diagnose and treat conditions that prevent people from having a good night of sleep.
Dr. Thakkar began her career at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research, where she completed her training in internal medicine. She pursued her fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of California-Davis.
After completing her fellowship, she went on to serve United States veterans at the VA in Sacramento/Mather. Dr. Thakkar remains a part of the UC Davis volunteer faculty in sleep medicine.
The patient-physician partnership is vital to Dr. Thakkar. To the benefit of her patients from multiple backgrounds, Dr. Thakkar speaks Gujarati, Hindi, and conversational Spanish. She can see patients at both of the Golden State Sleep Centers locations, and she also makes herself accessible by phone and by email.
Outside of work, Dr. Thakkar enjoys spending time with her husband and her twins. She also enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, swimming, and, of course, sleeping.
